Thank you so much for this video! I've been having intermittent failure of my backup camera since 2019. Tesla has always told me it's a software issue and to wait for an update. 5 years later my trunk will no longer open at all, and my license plate lights don't work. I opened up the rubber harness, and sure enough, two wires completely severed and 5 showing significant damage to the insulation. This is despite me going in for the recall fix in 2022, all they did was slap a piece of rubber on the outside of the harness and called it a day. I read the service bulletin and my harness was supposed to be replaced, as it has the coax cable with the yellow stripe, which is prone to failure. Hopefully they don't try to charge me to fix their sloppy work. I'll be very glad to be able to use my trunk, autopilot, sentry, and backup camera again!

They said if the wire had not broken they would have Tesla add something that would take the strain off to prevent it from breaking. What does that look like? I asked Tesla service about it and they said they looked at it and it looked okay and they didn't do anything. The recall letter said they should be adding something to prevent it from breaking. I like to know what that looks like and if I should try to make them follow through before mine breaks.

just a helpful tip: you should cut the clip where you don't talk, it would make the video flow better

hi there, when you plug back the cables does the camera works again or some reset needs to be done? I have replaces my trunk lid but kept the came wiring harness and now backup camera is off. I was wondering if there is some sort of reset for the rear camera. thanks
